I know it’s only just November, so maybe it’s a little early to start thinking about Christmas, but after watching Burberry’s new film ‘From London with Love’ you’ll soon change your mind!

If you’re looking for a weekend retreat then look no further. The Pig, nestled in the New Forest, is an idyllic country B&B perfect for when you just want to escape and relax. The Pig is a 26 room country house that feels more like someone’s home than a hotel.
The focus of this hotel is without doubt the restaurant. The kitchen only uses local produce from within 25 miles of the hotel and many of the items from the menu are either from the garden or foraged that morning. Because of this the menu changes almost daily. During our stay we enjoyed delicious New Forest mushrooms & black garlic mayonnaise with lamb shoulder and chicory, freshly picked from the garden. They also have a wonderful wine selection with the sommelier always on hand to help.

The rooms are quaint and throughly English with many pieces being reclaimed or second hand, all of which further adds to the charm. On ground floor there are two large living rooms where you can relax in a big old armchair and read a book next to the fire.
If you’re looking for something more active then you can take advantage of being in the middle of the New Forest and enjoy one of the many great walks. Although make sure you take a map as there’s pretty much no phone reception!

To relax after a long day of walking (or reading!) book in for a spa treatment in The Shed, it really is a shed but a very pretty one at that!
The Shed (The Spa!)
If you are looking for a quite weekend away with some really good food and wine then make sure you visit The Pig, you’ll need to book in advance though as this place gets booked up very quickly and I can see why!
